Language Arts - we will start a new literature study... book two...
                           - reading THE LEMONADE CRIME
                           - students practice reading comprehension, analyze
                             characters, vocabulary, and events, summarize,

                             main idea, evaluate ideas, discussions and questioning, ...
                           - we read and respond to our reading, daily.

For those students who have been sick, please listen to the book starting at...CHAPTER 1 OF THE LEMONADE CRIME! and the following chapters until you are caught up to the class.

~Word Work - Unit 4 - since students are starting from different levels of spelling, there will be different groups, according to where they are at, as observed in class. Students may increase or decrease in levels, depending on their written outputs. 

- All units are handed out on Mondays and then the rest needs to be worked on at home.

 *Students are responsible for bringing home their "working with words" handout at the beginning of each week. There are activities on the pages; practicing word patterns, meanings of words, etc,.. Students must return the page for grading on the last day of the week.

How To Write Complete Sentences

Criteria	Check
My sentence begins with an uppercase letter.
My sentence ends with a period, exclamation point, or a question mark.
All lowercase letters are formed correctly (tall letters are tall, short letters are short, and letters that are supposed to be written below the line are written below the line).
My sentence has at least one subject (the ‘who’ or what part of the sentence).
My sentence has a predicate (the details / what is happening part).

Demo Science Experiment!

Goal: to demonstrate any simple science experiment to the class explaining the concept of an ‘independent variable.’

You will:

·       Need a partner.  

·       Research any simple experiment on the computers (at school).

·       Make sure you have all the materials (we can supply some for you, if necessary and inexpensive).

·       Perform the experiment exactly 3 times changing ONLY ONE item (this is your ‘independent variable’) each time.

·       Clearly explain your ‘independent variable’ in your experiment while you present.

·       TRY IT AT HOME FIRST TO ENSURE IT WORKS!

·       Formally demonstrate it to your classmates.

·       State the question, hypothesis, materials, procedure, observations, and conclusions to the best of your ability.

·       No need to hand in a written component – verbal only. However, you may want to read from your planning page to help guide you. 

·       Be ready to share on Thursday morning, October 2, 2025. BRING IN ALL YOUR MATERIALS ON THIS DAY!

Hint: keep it a simple experiment like the first experiment we did in class with the small glass, water, and an index card.
