Hello Families,

This is an official welcome to students and parents. 

It’s time to start school and we will commence the year with positive energy, new and familiar faces, new goals, and new expectations. 

Class Expectations...

 
*Practice kindness and show respect to yourself and others... everyday! 
 
*Participate in all areas of the curriculum to the best of your ability!
 
*Be prepared each day with the appropriate learning materials.
 
*Work is legible, neat, complete, and handed-in for grading on time.
 
*Work toward a positive "growth-mindset"
 

*About 20 min (or more) of homework weekly. Usually, there is enough time in class to complete all learning opportunities. 
 
******Try your best to keep up with the demands at your individual levels.******

*Work hard & have fun.

                        - Open House / BBQ! 5:00 - 6:00 plus book fair.

September ?? - Paarlauf  RELAY RACES - for grade 4, 5, 6 girl and boy teams - at Laurie Middle School - 3:30 to 4:30. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from this event.

 September 25 - The Terry Fox Walk / Run - whole school participates at different times
                       -Bring in a toonie (or more) ASAP and support cancer research!
                       - We have a collection container in our class

September  29 - Orange shirt day
                       - in support of positive aboriginal voices and
                         education about residential schools


September 30 - NATIONAL TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION DAY - no school.

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Please support your child by telling them stories about their childhood (according to the ideas below).

Also, on or BEFORE SEPTEMBER 17TH , if you can provide the 5 photos below, it would really help us all to get to know your child.

INDEX Card 1

Front: Draw a self-portrait or bring in a recent photo of yourself on or BEFORE SEPTEMBER 17TH (a close-up is best).

Back: List 5 words that describe you BEST. Use your best ‘Word ART’ skills to write/draw the 5 words in the most creative way you can. Make it colourful!

(Examples: energetic, humorous, athletic, creative, brilliant, caring, responsible, trustworthy, loving, kind, friendly, punctual, flexible, hard-working, honest, …) 

More examples:  artistic, respectful, focused, playful, optimistic, positive, active, confident, helpful, happy, bubbly, funny, cheerful, intelligent, smart, gullible, problem-solver, crafty, trustworthy, loving, kind, friendly, punctual, flexible, hard-working, generous,… the descriptors are endless!

Front: Draw a picture of you as a baby or bring in a baby photo of yourself as a baby on or BEFORE SEPTEMBER 17TH.

                                       (From birth to 2 years old).

Back: List your birth date at the top and write a very short baby story you want to share.   

 

 

 

INDEX Card 3

Front: Draw a picture of yourself from ages 3 to 5 or bring in a photo of yourself age 3 to 5 on or BEFORE SEPTEMBER 17TH.

Back: Write about an important event that happened in your life between the ages of 3 and 5. 

 Write “Important Event” at the top of your card.         

 

INDEX Card 4

Front: Draw a picture of yourself learning something new from ages 6 to 7 or bring in a photo of yourself learning something new at the ages of 6 to 7 on or BEFORE SEPTEMBER 17TH.

Back: Write about the front side of this card 

- something new (that you could not do before) you were able to learn from the ages of 6 to 7.

 ( 2 or 3 sentences).

                        Write “Something New” at the top of this card.

 

INDEX Card 5 

Front: Draw a picture of yourself at your current age or bring in a photo of yourself doing your most favorite thing on or BEFORE SEPTEMBER 17TH!

Back: Write about the front side of this card – you getting pure enjoyment doing your most favorite thing! 

Write “My Favourite Thing” at the top of the page.

 

 

 On (or before) SEPTEMBER 17TH... please have all 5 photos at school so we can assemble and share our Memory Sticks.
