***Bring your bike and helmet in good operating condition on our We Bike days. If you do not have a bike, let me know and the organizers will provide one and a helmet.

“Bloom Ball” Book Report

Bloom Balls Project for Choice Reading ...

We are going to work on a unique book report both in class and as homework (ONLY if necessary).  The key to successfully completing this project is to keep up with your reading “circles.” Later, we will present our 4 favourite sections of our Bloom Balls.

 

Here is the timeline for this project:

Monday, May 11 ~ Students select a mystery novel from the library.

 ~ divide the total # of pages by 10 = pages to read each day for 10 days,

    excluding weekends.

Thursday, May 28 ~ your book must be read, and Mr. Bartraw introduces the rest of the project on June 1st.

Friday, June 5 ~ 6 circles completed (minimum) in TOTAL.

Thursday, June 11 ~ DUE DATE! ALL 12 circles MUST be finished, and you are prepared to present your 4 favourite circles to the class on June 11th and 15th.

Criteria: Be A Perfect Person In Just Three Days!

 

Setting (where and when your story takes place… mainly)

- detailed enough to create an image in your head

- paints a clear picture with words.

 

Characters

- we gradually learn about all the characters, their personality,

   appearance, attitudes, relationships to other characters,

   BUT NOT ALL AT ONCE.

 

Events/Problem

- there is a clear problem in the story about being perfect or not

- the events flow in logical order without huge gaps.

 

Mechanics

- spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar use is accurate

- work is edited and revised (improved)

- less than five errors overall are expected after proofreading on our laptops.

  Published version is Due on Friday, May 22.
