On Monday, June 15, please bring materials from home that could be used to build your mini golf hole. Examples include:

  • Cardboard
  • Foam cups
  • Clean plastic containers
  • Paper towel or toilet paper tubes
  • Small plastic pipes
  • Egg cartons
  • Toys 
  • Yogurt containers
  • Plastic lids
  • Craft materials
  • Small pieces of wood
  • Any other recycled or building materials you think would work.

 June 16 - Mini-golfing with our little buddies - 9 to 10:20.

June 18 - Spring Music concert in gym at 1pm.

June 19 - Fun Day in the afternoon - 9:30 to 2:45 pm.

June 23 - Grade 4 bike & hike (AM) in the forest! Bring your 

                bike, helmet, and lunch. For those who wish to hike, bring 

                proper walking shoes, no crocs or sandals. We will eat in

                the forest!

June 24 - Forest Games at the Wildhorse River (or South Star if the water is too high)!

ADST Design Challenge: Mini Golf Course Builders!

 This is a 4 hour challenge - one hour per day...

Grade 4 Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST)

Working with a partner, you will design and build your own mini golf hole! Your challenge is to create a fun, creative, and playable hole that includes obstacles, walls, ramps, tunnels, turns, or other exciting features.

Your Goal

Design a mini golf hole that:

  • Is creative and unique
  • Can be played using a marble
  • Has a clear “tee box” or starting point and finishing hole
  • Includes at least 2 obstacles or design features
  • Works successfully from start to finish

 

Materials to Bring

On Monday, June 15, please bring materials from home that could be used to build your mini golf hole. Examples include:

  • Cardboard
  • Foam cups
  • Clean plastic containers
  • Paper towel or toilet paper tubes
  • Small plastic pipes
  • Egg cartons
  • Toys 
  • Yogurt containers

Materials Provided by the School

  • Construction paper
  • Tape
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Hot glue guns and glue sticks (adult supervised)
  • Marbles
  • A small Dixie cup for the golf hole

ADST Design Process

As designers, you will:

  1. Empathize & Define – Think about what makes a mini golf hole fun and challenging.
  2. Ideate – Brainstorm ideas with your partner.
  3. Prototype – Build your mini golf hole.
  4. Test – Try it out and see if it works.
  5. Improve – Make changes to strengthen your design.

Success Criteria

I work cooperatively with my partner.
I contribute ideas and materials.
My mini golf hole is creative and functional.
My design includes obstacles or challenges.
I test and improve my design.
I demonstrate safe use of materials and tools.
