* assess technologies used for EE.
* describe contributions of Canadians to exploration technologies.
..........................................................................................................................................................................
Research Component:  your goal is to create a partner research project on 1 EE. Use a device in class!

Goal 1:  to state 5 characteristics of your chosen EE’s on earth / space   (10 points) + *(35 points)
             - what conditions make it extreme?                                                                           *Prior research
             - state the location on earth / space
             - list the website / book source

Goal 2:  to find one extremophile in your EE.   (5points)
             - what is its name?
             - what adaptations does it have to live in this EE? How is it able to live there?
             - print out or sketch or copy and save a picture on your device of the extremophile

Goal 3:  to give specific examples of how technology is used by humans to travel to or explore the EE.
             - identify types of equipment and methods used to explore EE’s (ie. fibre optics, Newt Suit, robotics,…)
             - what Canadian technologies are used?  (satellite telecommunications, ocean mapping, submarine
technology, robots developed by Canadians,…)   (10 points) – COMPLETED!

Goal 4:  to explain if you think it is necessary for humans to take living samples from your EE’s or should you leave the environment alone, undisturbed?
Explain in three or four sentences.   (5 points)

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
3-D Model Challenge Component:                             (25 points)
~ Select the most challenging EE you studied
~ design and build a complete model for traveling into your EE and living in it for 3 months.
~ make sure your model has features that will be able to withstand the extreme conditions of your EE.
~ present your 3-D model to the class and speak about all its features.
