Skating Details

Due to the recent snowfall, we will be skating on the outdoor rink in Wasa rather than skating on the pond.

Extra food in your lunch is a must!

If you were planning on roasting your own hot dogs, sandwiches, or something else, sticks will be needed.... so. we went to the community forest Wednesday morning and found some.

FYI:

Road conditions are predicted to be excellent; typical for this time of year..

We will go to the outdoor rink first, then to the pond on Lazy Lake Road for lunch and a bonfire... snowshoeing is an option, too!

December 18 - 20

    1.    Should the Iditarod take place every year?

    2.    Should you be able to stay in the fall-out center during the D-103 pandemic?

Drama 103 – The D103 Pandemic

Situation: The world has just learned of a new super-bug that is ten times more potent than the avian influenza H5N1 pandemic. Not much is known about this virus at this time.

All of us in this room have just found out that, miraculously, we are the only people on the planet that have not been affected by the new D103 Pandemic. All of us are originally from different countries, (as seen on our passports) but we were trying to become Canadian Citizens, living in Cranbrook.

Luckily, there is a secure shelter in this building that will be able to support 17 people for the next 3 years. After 3 years the 17 people will be able to leave the shelter safely and go out into the world again.

Goal: Our goal is to survive and repopulate the planet. You must be prepared to state your case for staying in the shelter and inform others of all your skills you have to offer.

So, we must only choose 17 people and ask the rest of the people to leave (or people can volunteer to leave).

Preparation:
a)      You must research your own job and be able to state which skills you have and those that would be needed in the shelter (and later when you exit the shelter).
b)      You must dress the part of your character and change your voice like your character as you imagine it to sound.
      c)   Also, research some facts about your country and get to know its culture.

**** Keep your passport with Mr. Bartraw at all times when it’s not in use.

Good Luck To You! Help the world agree with each other and SURVIVE!

     ****UGLY SWEATER CHALLENGE****

All students are asked to bring in a sweater/shirt/vest that
will be the base for their UGLY SWEATER DESIGNS.

~ I bought a long-sleeve red shirt at the Salvation Army for
$1.50. It will be my base.

We will be hot gluing and attaching various items
to our sweater/shirt/vest. So, if you have any
extra Christmas items that are not being used, please
bring them to class all this week in preparation for Friday.

Items could include:
~ garland, ornaments, bells, craft foam, small
tree boughs, pine cones, cotton balls, tinsel,
old XMAS lights, ... and ANYTHING that
might make someone's sweater design UGLY!

I will be purchasing some items from the Dollar
Stores, but it will not be enough for 26 students
to complete all their design needs.

AS IMPORTANT, I am asking for 5 to 10 parent
volunteers to help glue things on the sweaters using
hot glue guns.

If you are available on Friday, December 15 from
1:20 to 2:45, please return the notice that went
home on Monday.

EXTRA GLUE GUNS WILL BE HELPFUL, TOO!

Thanks in advance,

Mr. Bartraw
