PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE A PERMISSION FORM SIGNED AND RETURNED BY THURSDAY - FORM GOING HOME ON MONDAY.

September 24 - Fire Drill @ 1:30

September 24 - The Terry Fox Run - whole school participates at different times
                       -Bring in a toonie (or more) ASAP and support cancer research!
                       - We have a collection container in our class
 

September  29 - Orange shirt day
                       - in support of positive aboriginal voices and
                         education about residential schools 

Orange shirts are on sale now for $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students. Ask Mrs. Palmer to see samples.

September 30 - no school 

 October 1 - PRO-D Day - no school for students

 October 5 and 6 - PARENT / TEACHER CONVERSATIONS

                          - 1pm to 3:30pm both days

                          - Early dismissal for students at 11:50am

 If you are interested in a parent / teacher conference on the following days, please let me know. Other dates and times can be readily available if these are not convenient for you.

THESE CONVERSATIONS CAN BE IN PERSON (OR BY PHONE IF YOU PREFER).

Please email me or write a note in your child's agenda indicating your preferred times (with a couple of alternate times). Time slots will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis and updated on the class blog.

Language Arts - we will continue our literature study...
                           - reading THE LEMONADE WAR
                           - students practice reading comprehension, analyze
                             characters, vocabulary, and events, summarize,

                             main idea, evaluate ideas, discussions and questioning, ...
                           - WE ARE AT CHAPTER 8 AND WILL FINISH NEXT WEEK.... we read and respond to our reading, daily, in class discussions and in written form.

~Word Work - Unit 2 - groups - 30 minutes is allocated on Mondays

                        and then the rest needs to be worked on at home. Students are

                       responsible for bringing home their list words.

                      - work at the word and letter patterns...

                      - HAND IN FINISHED WORD WORK PAPER ON FRIDAYS
                      - Unit #2 study all list words and the challenge words; TEST on Friday.


~ Memory Sticks  - work at card #5 this week.
                               - students have until  TUESDAY Sept 21 to complete all cards

                                 and PLEASE have all PHOTOS brought to school by then. Thanks!

                               - we will then go into the forest and find our own sticks
                               - next, assemble it & then we share them with the class.
