~Sensory Imagery Writing

Sensory details allow the reader to put themselves into your writing mentally by forming a picture in his/her mind. Without sensory details, the reader becomes bored and cannot emotionally connect to the story.

Sensory details include words that describe sights, sounds, textures, smells, and sometimes tastes of the setting, characters, and interactions.

Directions: Write powerful, image-creating sentences by looking at the image of your BIOME and adding sensory details. Make up additional details to construct new sentences.

Desert | Sahara | Animals | Plants | Geography | Environment | Biomes | Climate | Mojave | Gobi - Page 1

"After three hours of hiking in the desert biome in Arizona, I paused to admire my surroundings..."

Students will write specific details of what the observe in their chosen photo, then sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings / emotions,... culminating with them pretending they are lost in the biome! Character self-talk is needed in each paragraph.

………………………………………………

Mission Possible!

Your mission, which you must choose to accept, is this…

~Your writing begins with you exploring your biome (scene) that you selected. You will describe many parts with plenty of detail and near the end you realize that you are lost!

~Make the reader feel part of your writing!

………………………………………………………………………………………

I know you can do this!

FINAL Draft Due date: November 25 using a pen.
