Language Arts - Reading - self-selected novel study...

~ We will finish on Wednesday.

~ Students have chosen from 10 novels and read 30 minutes each day.

~ Next, complete a "CHUNKING SHEET." 

This means reading responses from our novel study...

chunking sheets describing likes, dislikes, questions, and patterns with plenty of detail.

Drama activity will follow on Thursday.

~ Writing = Sensory Imagery Writing

Sensory details allow the reader to put themselves into your writing mentally by forming a picture in his/her mind. Without sensory details, the reader becomes bored and cannot emotionally connect to the story.

Sensory details include words that describe sights, sounds, textures, smells, and sometimes tastes of the setting, characters, and interactions.

Directions: Write 5 powerful, image-creating paragraphs by looking at the picture of your chosen BIOME and adding sensory details to tell your own adventure story. Create additional details to construct new experiences of sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings in your story within the following guidelines...

Mission Possible!

Your mission, which you have already chosen to accept, is this…

~Your writing begins with you… exploring your biome (scene) that you selected. You will describe many parts, with ample detail, as taught in class, and 'go hiking' in your biome. Near the end, you realize that you are lost!  

~Make the reader feel part of your writing!

~All writing is in first-person format.

First draft is due Thursday, November 21.          

Final published draft due date: Tuesday, December 3rd.

~Word Work - Unit 10 - students are working from different levels of spelling. There are different groups, according to where they are at, as observed in class. Students may increase or decrease in levels, depending on their written outputs. 

- All units are handed out on Mondays and then the rest needs to be worked on at home.

 *Students are responsible for bringing home their list words at the beginning of each week. There are activities on the pages; practicing word patterns, meanings of words, etc,.. Students must return the page for grading on, or before, the last day of the week.

                      - work at the word and letter patterns, connect the sounds letters make,...

                      - HAND IN FINISHED 'WORD WORK' PAPER ON or before FRIDAY.
                      - Unit #10 study all list words; TEST on Friday.
