Another Busy Week!

Reading - Lots of Aboriginal content - RAVEN TALES 
              - Self-Selected Reading also
              - we read, then write for 10 minutes in our reading logs...
              - reading goals: summarizing and character analysis;
Also...
              - making positive decisions - SURVIVAL theme
              - fact versus fiction 
              - read, respond, create, communicate

Writing - next step to the FOUR TYPES OF SENTENCES is...
            - SENSORY IMAGERY:
      Sensory details allow the reader to put themselves into your writing mentally by forming a picture in his/her mind. Without sensory details, the reader becomes bored and cannot emotionally connect to the story.
      Sensory details include words that describe sights, sounds, textures & feelings, smells, and sometimes tastes of the setting, characters, and interactions.

       Directions: Write powerful, image-creating sentences by looking at the image you printed out and adding sensory details. Make up additional details to construct new sentences.

EXPECT WRITING HOMEWORK DAILY IF CLASS TIME IS NOT SUFFICIENT TIME.

PE  - SIX BASKETBALL CENTERS = skill development
         ~ passing, set shots, lay ups, free throw shots,
            chair weave dribbling, and speed dribbles.
         ~ discussions in class about rules, fouls, and strategies.

SKATING ON WEDNESDAY - 9:15 TO 10:30
             - we are walking to the Kinsman arena (leave after announcements)
             - bus will be available for the next two times
             - going with grade 5, Ms. Johnson's class.

Technology - typing, editing, and revising our SENSORY IMAGERY
                      writing on MS WORD 2013

Health Education: finish-up daily physical activity (DPA)
            ~ Booklets due Thursday.
