October 20 - Earthquake Drill
October 20 - PRESENT YOUR SCIENCE DEMONSTRATIONS - BE PREPARED WITH ALL OF YOUR MATERIALS.
Demo Science Experiment!
Goal: to demonstrate any simple science experiment to the class explaining the concept of an ‘independent variable.’
You will:
· Need a partner or a group of three
· Research any simple experiment on the computers (at school)
· Make sure you have all the materials (we can supply some for you, if necessary and inexpensive)
· Perform the experiment exactly 3 times changing one item (this is your ‘independent variable’)
· Clearly explain the term ‘independent variable’ in your experiment while you present
· TRY IT AT HOME FIRST TO ENSURE IT WORKS!
· Formally demonstrate it to your classmates
· State the question, hypothesis, materials, procedure, observations, and conclusions to the best of your ability
· No need a written component – verbal only.
· Be ready to present on Thursday at 10:45 to 11:50 and after lunch if needed on October 20, 2022.
Hint: keep it a simple experiment like the first experiment we did in class with the small glass, water, and an index card.
Criteria Scale
· Clearly demonstrated a simple experiment with an introduction, a question, hypothesis, materials, procedure, observations, and conclusions. |
*Precisely explained *Well-stated *Satisfactory *Basic understanding *Unable to explain |
· Demonstrated and explained what an ‘independent variable’ is in their experiment and how it was ‘changeable.’
