Language Arts - Reading -we are starting a new novel study!
Luke Garner, a 12-year-old boy, lives on a farm with his mother, father, and two brothers. As a third child, Luke and his parents are in violation of a population law. Luke, like all third children, must spend his days hidden or away from public view, or else he will be taken away or imprisoned, as well as his family.
IF YOU WERE ABSENT, PLEASE LISTEN TO THE AUDIO VERSION HERE ON YOUTUBE and get caught up. We will read to the end of chapter 7 by Thursday...
Writing focus: to improve our sentences. When we read a chapter of our novel, we write a journal entry. We are working at increasing our sentence structure usage and spelling accuracy when we communicate in writing. |
~
Writing - we need more students to finish our largest written project to date... ASAP!
Sensory Imagery Writing
Sensory details allow the reader to put themselves into your writing mentally by forming a picture in his/her mind. Without sensory details, the reader becomes bored and cannot emotionally connect to the story.
Sensory details include words that describe sights, sounds, textures, smells, and sometimes tastes of the setting, characters, and interactions.
Directions: Write powerful, image-creating sentences by looking at the image of any BIOME and adding sensory details. Make up additional details to construct new sentences.
………………………………………………
Mission Possible!
Your mission, which you must choose to accept, is this…
~Your writing begins with you exploring one biome (scene) that you selected. You will describe many parts with plenty of detail and near the end you realize that you are lost!
~Make the reader feel part of your writing!
Due date extended - many unfinished stories... December 6th.
