February 12 is the first day at Kimberley Alpine Resort...

     Our Highlands intermediate students will be going skiing/snowboarding two times at the Kimberley Alpine Resort.

*The original January 17th forms and money will work for the Feb 12th date. 

*If you signed up as a chaperone for the Jan 17th day and cannot make the Feb 12 day as a chaperone, please email me at danny.bartraw@sd5.bc.ca and you will receive a refund. HES intermediate teachers apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

    THUS, we have two confirmed dates booked: Feb 12 and Mar 11. We will be leaving school at 8:45am on the bus and returning to the school for 2:50pm dismissal.

 Among the Impostors — "Shadow Children" Series - Plugged In

We will work at making story connections, inferences, creating images, and listening for sensory imagery details. Also, we will have daily comprehension discussions and writing activities which follow each reading.

We are learning about literary devices so that we can input these in our next story writing lessons... which starts soon. These include:

  • hyperbole
  • personification
  • alliteration.

 We are also working daily at proper letter formation, printing, and writing complete sentences.

~Word Work - Unit 18 will be practiced this week. Complete all your work. 

                        - DUE DATES: hand-in your WW page on or before the last day of the week.

                      - list words will always be sent home on Mondays.
                      - Unit #18 study all list words; TEST on Thursday.

NEW in term two... Word Work will include Boggle challenges and working with letter tiles to increase word generator skills and spelling skills.
