Our Highlands intermediate students will be going skiing/snowboarding two times at the Kimberley Alpine Resort.
*The original January 17th forms and money will work for the Feb 12th date.

you signed up as a chaperone for the Jan 17th day and cannot make the
Feb 12 day as a chaperone, please email me at danny.bartraw@sd5.bc.ca
and you will receive a refund. HES intermediate teachers apologize for
any inconvenience this has caused.
THUS, we have two confirmed dates booked: Feb 12 and Mar 11. We will be leaving school at 8:45am on the bus and returning to the school for 2:50pm dismissal.

What is the Heart to Heart Market?
At Highlands School, we believe that local and global citizenship through
helping others is part of our identity.
Every class at HES will be making some type of art piece or craft. These items may be purchased in increments of one dollar.
Students will get to go ‘shopping’ at the Market, with ALL proceeds
going towards the ________ (to be announced).

Language Arts - we will begin a new novel study with the theme of anti-bullying...

school may not be what she thinks it is.

Writing:
We HAVE LEARNED about literary devices so that we can input these into our story writing. This includes:
- hyperbole - first
- alliteration - second
- personification - third.
We are also working daily at proper letter formation, printing, and writing complete sentences. WATCH OUT FOR THOSE FLOATING LETTERS (g, j, p, q, y)!

Students can access the portal and work on their stories if they need more time.
Instructions for typing out your story at your house.
1. Go to the 'sd5 portal' website. Click on 'utility links' at the top of the page.
2. Click on “Office 365.” Scroll down and click on "sign in."
3. Sign in using your # (the same # you use every day at school)... and email.
Example: 12345678@sd5.bc.ca
4. You are now in the portal! Your sound effects story will be there.
